Three Rivers Ambulance Authority to launch Pulse Point
Fort Wayne, IN (July 29, 2026) – Three Rivers Ambulance Authority (TRAA) to launch PulsePoint, a community initiative designed to connect bystanders, 9-1-1 telecommunicators, and lifesaving equipment before first responders arrive. Every year, thousands of people experience sudden cardiac arrest outside of a hospital. In those moments, survival depends on one thing: how quickly someone nearby can act.
PulsePoint consists of two powerful tools working together to improve survival from sudden cardiac arrest:
PulsePoint AED helps create a community-wide registry of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), allowing 9-1-1 telecommunicators to quickly identify and direct callers to the nearest registered AED during a cardiac emergency.
PulsePoint Respond alerts nearby trained citizens when someone is experiencing a suspected cardiac arrest in a public place, giving them the opportunity to begin CPR or retrieve a nearby AED while emergency responders are on the way.
A study, published by the American Heart Association, found that 66 percent of cardiac arrest victims who received a shock from an AED performed by a bystander before emergency help arrived, survived to hospital discharge. Conversely, without bystander use of a publicly available AED – waiting instead for emergency responders to arrive – 70 percent of cardiac arrest victims died or survived with impaired brain function.
Indiana law already requires AED owners to notify the local emergency medical services provider whenever an AED is acquired, sold, donated, or removed from service. Registering an AED in PulsePoint AED is one of the easiest ways to help meet that requirement while making the device available to 9-1-1 telecommunicators when seconds matter most.
Indiana Code 16-31-3-1.5 states:
“A person who acquires an automated external defibrillator shall notify the emergency medical services provider that serves the area where the automated external defibrillator is located. The person shall also notify the emergency medical services provider if the automated external defibrillator is sold, donated, or otherwise transferred to another person or removed from service.”

Watch this to learn how to register your AED: HERE To celebrate the launch of this lifesaving initiative in the City of Fort Wayne, TRAA is inviting the community to participate in a free Hands-Only CPR Training at Parkview Field on Tuesday, August 11, at 9:30 a.m. Approximately 100 community members will gather on the outfield to learn how to recognize sudden cardiac arrest, activate 9-1-1, perform Hands-Only CPR, and understand how early CPR and AED use can dramatically improve a person’s chance of survival. Whether you’ve never learned CPR before or simply want to be better prepared, this event is for you.
Please plan to arrive at the Home Plate Concourse at Parkview Field by 9:30 a.m. We’ll provide a brief welcome, event instructions, and prepare everyone for the Hands-Only CPR training. Local media will be in attendance to help share this important initiative with our community.
